Elvis Does Spangles

I'm driving past Spangles today and what do I glimpse on the sign in front but, "See Steve West as Elvis - Friday and Saturday 11 - 2 PM".

Being the Elvis fan I am, anything that says, "Elvis" catches my attention. I've never seen a really good Elvis impersonator, only cheap imitations. I never got to see the real thing because he died when I was 12. My sister Lindy gave the '76 Elvis concert tickets to my parents for Christmas the year before he died and gave me a flippin' skate board. But we've been over that before and decided I'm not bitter.

So, tomorrow I'm going to call Spangles and ask them in no uncertain terms:

"Will he be doing fat Elvis or skinny Elvis?"

B says I shouldn't be so blunt. She thinks I should say, "Will he be doing young Elvis, or old Elvis?" I don't care what B thinks.

If I'm going to make a special trip to see an Elvis impersonator, I want to see a young, handsome, thin, still able to gyrate, Elvis; not some bloated, bad dye job, not even close, fat Elvis. Big guys think they can just throw on a white jumpsuit and they're magically transformed into the King. Fat chance.

So, tomorrow I'm calling. I'm asking if the guy's doing fat Elvis or thin Elvis. For all I know this guy might be doing "Tupelo Mississippi, truck driver, nobody's even heard of me yet Elvis". It would be just my luck to come across some jerkoff with a new twist - portray an American icon before his meteoric rise to stardome. The last thing I wanna see is pimply faced, skinny ass, can't afford a guitar, driving a truck, Priscillaless, no pelvis, Elvis.

I'll let you know what they say.

Reminder to self: never, ever pop Tess's pages up with any liquid in close proximity...

...and especially not half way ingested.

MG beat me to it but my sentiment is the same. The King is the King is the King. Young Elvis, Old Elvis (B is right, this is how he should be described, show respect) it doesn't matter. It's all Elvis baby. However if I were going to see an impersonator I must confess that I would prefer to see young Elvis. Not because of his heft but I just never really dug the whole jumpsuit and cape thing.

I'm with Tess. I want to see sexy, bright-eyed G.I. Elvis ... not the hunka hunka burnin' love Vegas act.
